Mission Statement
The Education Foundation of Niagara (EFN) has been established to provide funding for projects designed to enhance the curriculum, using new and creative approaches for students served by the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN). EFN is an arms-length charity supporting the District School Board of Niagara schools. The District School Board of Niagara is a recognized leader in the provision of quality educational programs to elementary and secondary students throughout the Niagara Region.
Serving over 42,000 students and employing over 4,000 members of the Niagara Community, DSBN serves a dynamic and diverse community.
The diversity of the Niagara student communities present many challenges, but by supporting the many programs and initiatives, we are supporting a healthy, vibrant and educated Niagara. The Education Foundation of Niagara is the way to support the community and the future.
EFN Fundraising
Donations of cash, planned giving and in-kind provide the financial supported needed to carry on the EFN mission. The Donate Now page provides an opportunity for you to participate in many ways, from becoming a member to signing up for an event, to making a gift to EFN in support of the many causes.
Other fundraising activities, like events, sponsorships, promotional activities, benefits partners and third party events assist in the cause.
Grants To Schools
Grants are awarded to schools by application only. EFN awards grants to schools for Program Enhancement, Poverty and Emergency Relief Funding and Student Achievement Awards. If you are a school administrator or teacher, visit Grants to Schools for more information on how to apply for funding. Disbursements are made in February and October and are chosen by the Education Foundation of Niagara Board of Directors Selection Committee.
The Board of Directors
Activities are legislated by a Board of Directors comprised of DSBN school trustees, current and retired educators and community members. In May an annual general meeting (AGM) identifies new and returning members through a voting process. The Executive Director provides the operational support along with a full time Events Coordinator and placement students from post-secondary institutions.
