Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities
More funding available for kids in need is great news for schools!!! The Education Foundation of Niagara is working with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities to assist students facing financial constraints. Canadian Tire promotes and prioritizes physical activity for all Canadian Children and the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities program helps kids in financial need to participate in organized sports and recreation that are outside school related activities and that bears activity fees, such as soccer, dance, hockey and swimming. Community leaders who are able to identify children with financial need can refer families to this program through the Education Foundation of Niagara and / or Community Care programs to assist with funding for kids between 4 and 18 who would like to participate in an organized sport. Up to $100 in funding can be applied to cover costs of registration, equipment and transportation. Other participating organizations include: Family and Children Services Niagara, Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold, Community Care of West Niagara, Big Brothers & Big Sisters Association of Greater Fort Erie, Port Cares, Project Shares and the Hope Centre.
Greg Frewin Theatre
Donating funds to EFN through student bookings. Donating in 2008 almost $700 to the Poverty and Emergency Relief Fund, the theatre also donates "magic mittens" to students in need across Niagara.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Education Foundation of Niagara not only fundraises for dollars and cents but also forges partnerships and relationships that will ultimatley benefit DSBN students in a variety of ways. Working with the TIGER-CATS, DSBN FOOTBALL teams have the availability to sell tickets at reduced costs for fundraising purposes. TIGER-CATS are also offering student athletic awards and coach of the year awards. 2008 winner Victor Bibby from Grimsby Secondary School received the award on the field at the October 20, 2008 game. 2009 information coming soon!

Providing insurance opportunities to DSBN staff, Johnson Insurance Inc., is a competitive insurance provider and EFN's newest partner. The Foundation receives certain proceeds as a result of our relationship. Johnsons Insurance Inc. also provides support to our events and our communications pieces. OUTniagara - an organization which celebrates and strengthens Niagara's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Allied community through many partner organizations locally -- recently held a cabaret night at the Sullivan Mahoney Court House Theatre as a part of Pride in Niagara celebrations this year. They have donated $200 to the PERF specifically to aid students who identify as GLBT. These students are at a 33% greater risk of finding themselves facing poverty or in need of emergency aid. The event was organized by Vineland/Maple Grove Principal Lorne Gretsinger and featured the talents and volunteer hours of many DSBN staff, such as Betsy Tauro, Jennifer Benson, Bruce and Alexis Hyndman, and others.
School's Out!
An educational-based publication that is distributed to every elementary student four times a year assists us in the fundraising mission with proceeds going right back into our program. Packed full of fun things to do for you and your family, School's Out can provide ideas and activity options for childrens and parents of Niagara. The Foundation also uses every edition to promote its own activities and communicate with the DSBN community. Teachers Credit UnionThe Education Foundation of Niagara would llike to welcome the Teachers Credit Union to our family of partners. TCU has been working with the Foundation since 2007 and values what we do for our kids. They prove this by assisting us with many of our fundraising efforts. They are the presenting sponsor for the Annual EFN Gala for 3 years running, sponsor communications' pieces and sponsor the 2009 Make Change for Children Campaign as the box sponsor.
