LITERACY CONNECTIONS

Reading, writing, and imagination

CARLETON READS!

Family Literacy refers to the many ways families develop and use literacy skills, from reading together, to playing word games, to making shopping lists and reading street signs. We encourage all Carleton families to celebrate and encourage literacy by joining this fun and exciting club.

"Carleton Reads" is a reading club which encourages kids to read anything and everything! And it rewards them for all the reading that they do. Kids are rewarded for reading everything from posters to user manuals, to recipes to short stories and novels. "Carleton Reads" connects literacy and reading with our students’ day to day lives.

Students who join will receive a "Carleton Reads" booklet and special Family Literacy Day pencil as a signing bonus. Students just need to return the registration form attached below and they will receive their booklets and get started. The booklet explains how students record their reading and redeem their points.

As students read, they accumulate points which can be turned in to Mrs. Hadfield, Mr. McLean or Mrs. Falk for prizes.

Please help support "Carleton Reads" by encouraging your child to join and then helping him/her accumulate points for prizes.
