Breakfast ProgramIt is very common these days for children and adults to start their day without a good meal. There are many reasons for this, including our busy lifestyles. Some children are just not ready to eat breakfast before leaving home. If you are finding it difficult to get your child to eat breakfast in the morning, the nutrition program may be the answer. The Breakfast Club will run Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. from October to June. The Breakfast Club is open to all students at Dewitt Carter. In addition to a nutritious breakfast, the children can enjoy a social time with the volunteers and fellow students. Each morning, 2-3 parent volunteers will supervise The Breakfast Club. The meal will contain something from each of the four food groups. Our typical breakfast will consist of: milk and cereal, fruit and juice; muffin and milk and fruit or juice, bagel/toast and juice or fruit. The Breakfast Club is funded through the Provincial Government through the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and donations from the community. In order to apply for ongoing funding we need to demonstrate parental support as well. In-kind donations such as non-sugar cereal (Rice Krispies or Cheerios) or unsweetened fruit juice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone who has supported the program. We are excited and looking forward to a good year! “Remember you can’t train the brain if you don’t include the food” |
