Silver Birch Reading Program

The Silver Birch Reading Program is part of a province wide Reading Incentive for Ontario Students in Grades three to six.  Students are able to read fiction and non-fiction books written by Canadian authors.  Students are required to read at least five books from either list in order to be eligible to vote for his or her favourite book.  The winning books from the fiction, non-fiction and express booklists are chosen by the students who read them.  Each year over 40,000 Ontario Students read the nominated Silver Birch Books and choose the winners.

This year we have over 25 enthusiastic readers who have joined the DeWitt Carter Reading Club. Our official voting day will be April 23, 2009.

All books must be read by this date. The results of the province wide vote will be announced sometime in May. To learn more about the Silver Birch and other Reading Programs, please visit the Ontario Library Association's Website at www.accessola.com
