Message from the Principal

Fort Erie Elementary School, the Home of the Phoenix, is truly a unique learning community comprised of 230 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Located on Central Avenue near the heart of town, we enjoy a location close in proximity to Fort Erie Secondary School, the Public Library and the Gypsy Theatre.

It is a pleasure to be part of a team of people; staff, parents and community partners, who dedicate time and energy each day to ensuring that our students continue to learn and grow, both academically and socially. Through a partnership with the Fort Erie YMCA, we are pleased to offer before/after school and afternoon daycare . We recognize that children truly are our most important future resource.

We are committed to student success and have focused on continuing to offer a rich educational program. Our balanced school day includes six 50 minute blocks of uninterrupted instructional time as well as two fitness /nutrition breaks organized in a 10 day cycle. In literacy teachers strive to offer a balanced program which includes study in reading, writing, oral and visual communication and media. Students enjoy a full range of subjects including math, second language, science, history, geography, the arts including music, visual arts and drama and dance and physical education. In grade 7 and 8 students are able to walk to Fort Erie Secondary School for Design and Technology and Choice and Changes. Due to our proximity to the Secondary School visitors to the school will often see co-op students who complete their placements with us.

School life at Fort Erie Elementary also includes; TRIBES; CHAMPS; sport teams, winter concerts; talent shows; intermural sports; craft club; chess club; stamp club; and much more thanks to the dedication of our staff, parents and of course our students.

It is an honour to be part of this school community and part of the Phoenix family!

Educationally yours,

Mrs. Beverly Smith
Principal
