Roots of Empathy

Roots of Empathy is a classroom parenting program that teaches human development, emotional literacy, and nurtures the growth of empathy. A baby and parent visit the classroom 9 times throughout the school year. The Roots of Empathy instructor works with the students before, during and after each visit. The themes covered are - Meet the baby, Crying, Caring and Planning, Emotions, Sleep, Safety, Communicating, Who Am I and Goodbye and Good Wishes. The goals of the program are - to foster the development of empathy, to reduce levels of bullying, aggression and violence in children's lives and build peaceful societies, to increase the knowledge of human development, learning and infant safety, to teach emotional literacy and to prepare students for responsible and responsive parenting.
