Basketball

Governor Simcoe Secondary School is very proud of the rich basketball tradition that has been forged in the history of the school. The senior girls basketball team are the 2006/7 OFSAA "AAA" gold medallists while the senior boys basketball team are the 2006/7 OFSAA "AAA"bronze medallists.

The Redcoats tradition of excellence on the basketball court includes 11 medals at the provincial tournament. Governor Simcoe basketball teams have won OFSAA gold four times:

• 2006/07 Senior Girls "AAA"
• 2003/04 Senior Girls "AAA"
• 2001/02 Senior Girls "AA"
• 1977/78 Senior Boys "AAA"

Other OFSAA medal winning teams include:

• 2004/05 Senior Girls "AAA" Bronze medallists
• 2002/03 Senior Girls "AA" Bronze medallists
• 1988/89 Senior Girls "AA" Bronze medallists
• 1979/80 Senior Girls "AA" Silver medallists
• 2006/07 OFSAA Senior Boys "AAA" bronze medallists
• 2005/06 OFSAA Senior Boys "AAA" bronze medallists
• 1987/88 OFSAA Senior Boys "AAA" silver medallists
