GOVERNOR SIMCOE SECONDARY SCHOOL PRESENTS WALK AWAY FROM AIDS 2009

Event Details:
  • The walk is May 28th from period 3 to 2:30
  • Money is due by May 26th
  • The reason for the walk is to raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation which is an organization that supports people living with AIDS in Africa.
  • They provide funding for education, food, care, and medicne, as well as educating people about AIDS and how to prevent it.
  • There are 28 million people living with AIDS in Africa & 14 million children orphaned by AIDS
  • Each student must raise a minimum of $15 to participate in the walk ($20 if the money comes in after the 26th)
  • After the walk there is a BBQ, music, a DJ, fun stuff!
  • There are great prizes to be won including ipod nanos & itunes gift cards
  • The first year we raised over $15 000
  • The second year we raised over $9000
  • This year our goal is for each student to raise $50 (that will be almost $50 000 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation)
