Greendale's Code of Conduct has been developed to assist our students to become responsible and respectful individuals through a framework of respect, co-operation, pride and safety. RESPECT shall be given for each person's individual characteristics, abilities, feelings and possessions. CO-OPERATION will accomplish what no individual can do alone PRIDE in oneself, our school, and our community will be encouraged through recognition and praise SAFETY and a secure environment is a right of each individual. We believe that discrimination on the basis of race, culture, religion, gender, language, disability, sexual orientation or any other attribute is unacceptable. LUNCHROOM EXPECTATIONSAll students staying for lunch must complete a lunch application form. Students must stay on school property unless written or alternate arrangements have been approved by the Principal or Vice-Principal.
Lunch students must be respectful to their lunchroom supervisors and student monitors. Removal from the classroom and eventual loss of lunch privileges will result if persistent inappropriate behaviour continues. DRESS AT SCHOOLParents are encouraged to monitor their child's school clothing to maintain a high standard. A school is a child's workplace where neat, tidy and clean dress is expected. Short shorts, cut-offs, tubetops, tank tops, mesh tops, bare midriffs, clothing with offensive wording or pictures and ripped or torn jeans are not acceptable. This dress code is consistent with other local public schools. Please note that students with inappropriate clothing will be asked to change. PERSONAL PROPERTYStudents should not bring valuable personal property or large sums of money to school. Greendale School cannot assume responsibility for lost or stolen property but all efforts will be made to assist in their recovery. ON THE PLAYGROUND
HANDS OFFA key phrase for all students at Greendale to know is "Hands Off". "Hands Off" is a reminder that the use of physical means to solve a problem or to intimidate or bully another student is totally unacceptable behaviour. Students are encouraged to solve their differences through non-violent ways. "Show respect for one another as we work and play together in our school and in our community." SAFETY ON THE BUSWhen students are transported daily or on school trips, co-operation with our school bus drivers is essential. The following bus rules must be followed:
CONSEQUENCES AND COURSES OF ACTIONConsequences for inappropriate behaviour will be based on the severity of the behaviour as determined by the school staff. Parents will be kept informed by telephone calls, letters sent home or meetings at the school. Specific needs of individual students and the welfare of the school will be considered. Greendale will make every effort to deal with student conflict and inappropriate behaviour in a fair and sensitive manner. Students will be encouraged to make every effort to solve their daily problems and differences with others through non-violent, co-operative ways. Acceptance of consequences as a learning opportunity will assist students to develop personal responsibility and self discipline. Sample consequences may include . .
