Pathways to Success

Students of Kernahan Park Secondary choose one of four pathways each leading to one or more post secondary opportunities:

Special Needs Program Ontario Certificate of Accomplisment Occupational training, employment, independent living
School to Employment Program Ontario Secondary School Certificate
Minimum of 14 credits; 7 compulsory
Adult training, employment, independent living
Specialized School to Work Ontario Secondary School Diploma
Minimum of 30 credits; 18 compulsory
Employment, Apprenticeship, College
(additional one year prep at college required)
College Ontario Secondary School Diploma Employment, Apprenticeship, College
INSPIRING AND SUPPORTING SUCCESS

Leadership
Student leadership involvement provides students with the opportunity to work together to plan and implement numerous school spirit activities and community service projects while continuing to strengthen their own confidence and virtues of respect and responsibility and build relationships within the school community.
Learning Resource Centre
The learning resource centre staff provide alternative and compensatory learning strategies for students in a supportive environment by fostering meaningful partnerships with in the pursuit of success.
Credit Recovery
This program allows students a scond chance to complete the requirements of compulsory credits. Students are enrolled in a single period course and provided a short term remedial program to demonstrate understanding of the essential skills and concepts associated with the credit being recovered.
