Cooperative Education

The Cooperative Education Program provides students with a planned learning experience, for which credits are granted, that integrates classroom theory and learning experiences at a workplace.  Students are able to apply and refine the knowledge and skills acquired in a related secondary school course. (Grade 11 - 12)

 

Take our kids To Work Day (Grade 9)

Students shadow a parent or relative in the work environment or sign up for the day long business and industry adventure tour. Link

 

Job Shadowing (Grades 10 - 12)

Job Shadowing is a one day experience where a student can observe a work environment or occupation that they are interested in.

 

Work Experience (Grade 10 - 12)

Work experience is offered as part of s secondary school credit course and provides students with learning opportunities in a workplace for a prescribed period of time., usually one to four weeks

 

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program

Students who participate in the program obtain both apprenticeship hours and high school credits at the same time. Students who are interested should explore this opportunity through the technological courses offered at Kernahan. Link
