“St. Mark’s Cemetery Tour”

On Thursday, October 9, students spent a fascinating day touring St. Mark’s Church, Cemetery and Library archives. The class had been studying ancient civilizations such as Greece, Rome and Medieval Europe and were delighted to discover that many of the concepts and characteristics of these distant civilizations are represented in local institutions such as St. Mark’s.

Donald Combe and Fred Habermehl lead a dedicated and prolific group of researchers and historians that marshalled the students on an intriguing walking tour of the Cemetery. This was followed by an extensive examination of the Church and it’s architectural significance, and finally a review of the Church Library and it’s unique archives.
