Special Education

NDSS strives to meet the needs of all students through appropriate individualized and group approaches for remediation and enrichment.  The school offers special services whenever the need for help becomes apparent.  When appropriate, an IEP (Individual Education Plan) is developed in consultation with students, parents/guardians and school staff.

Each department offers some special services and the assistance of the Learning Resource Teacher is available to those referred through In-School Team for specific reading, math and other learning difficulties.

Enrichment opportunities at NDSS attempt to address a variety of needs and interests through the use of extra and co-curricular activities, competitions, special field trips, independent study to further develop thinking and research skills.

The philosophy of the school is that all students be provided with the opportunity to reach their personal and educational potential.
