"PULSE" Percussion Ensamble PDF Print E-mail

Pulse is a new ensemble for the 2009/2010 school year. It is directed by Mr. Derrick Stickney, the music teacher at PCHS. Mr. Stickney is a percussion specialist himself and is excited to share his expertise with the Port High community of students.

To be a member of this ensemble, you must have successfully completed one semester of grade 9 instrumental music or have equivalent proficiency in reading rhythm and standard musical notation. Students with a background in piano, will find that their acquired skills in piano are a great asset to playing percussion instruments.

Pulse specializes in music from various cultures and various styles. If you love music, you will want to be a part of this ensemble. They meet to rehearse every Monday from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm in the music room and are expected to practice regularly on their own as well. There is no cost to students to be a part of this or any other ensemble except the purchase of a "Blue Bear Music" uniform golf shirt that is mandatory for all performances.
