AUTHOR-OF-THE-MONTH

The boys and girls in Grade 1 are beginning to take a closer look at stories written by different authors.

Each month, one of these great authors is chosen as our "Author-of-the-Month." We have a special display for this author's books in our classroom and we spend a lot of time choosing books from this shelf to read both together as a Learning Community and individually for Shared and Independant Reading. We also do some fun writing activities based on the wonderful stories of our Authors-of-the-Month.

Over the course of the month, we learn about each author - we read about their families, where they grew up and where they get their story ideas from.
