Pine Grove Parent Council Meeting Minutes

Attendance: Mary Barry, Rosanna Pickford, Kelly Gretzinger, Lisa Watson, Linda Durham, Wendy Rung, Shelley Whitesell, Cindy Rorke, Greg Curry, Bree Curry, Marnie Shepard, Shonda Smith, Deb Fiore, Lisa Eizenga

Principal’s Report:
- New Grade 1/2 teacher, Marnie Shepard was introduced to the group
- School photo day will be on September 11, 08.
- Meet the Teacher BBQ will be held on September 16, 08 from 5-6:30 pm. Hot dog and water will cost $2.00. Note will go home on 9th.
- Grade 3 trip to Water Festival on September 18th
- Play Day on September 19th. Discussed the possibility of having Freezies for the kids.
- Puma Pride Spirit Day-“Party Day” on September 23.
- September 24 is Cross Country at Bourgoyne Woods

Financial: Rosanna Pickford reported a healthy status for the finances. A more detailed look at the finances will be given for next meeting on October 6th

Fundraising:
- November 14th (tentative) for the next Trivia Night with an alternate date of Nov. 7.
- Sample menu is being drawn up in preparation for the Hot Lunch Wednesdays which begins on Wednesday, October 1st
- Possibility of the grade 6 proceeds from the Hot Lunches going towards grade 6 end of year trip.
- Mary Barry discussed the Fitness and Heritage Run on October 19, 08. Half the money raised would be returned to the school.
- Card Shop in a Box: Information will be sent home around Thanksgiving and will run for a couple of weeks
- Discussed the possibility of a cookie dough / spices fund raiser

Council Elections: Elections will be held during next months meeting for the following positions
- PTA Chair/Co-chair
- PTA Vice Chair
- PTA Secretary
- PTA Treasurer
Harvest Lunch will be held on Thursday, October 9th. Shelly Whitesell to review last year’s information to determine this years expenses.

Wish List: Wish List for the teachers was successful last year. Discussed the possibility of once again providing each class with some funds to purchase learning resources for their classrooms.
