Government of Canada Scavenger Hunt

Introduction

Government influences many aspects of our lives.  The daily newspaper reflects this influence in news stories, editorials, advertising and cartoons. Look through the entire newspaper to find examples of the following items.  Your research source may include other media sources such as Macleans magazine. Place the articles/pictures/cartoon on a page and make a table of contents. Make a bibliography to go at the end of the project.

Items to be found

bulletThe name and a photo of the Prime Minister of Canada, Premier of Ontario and the mayor of your town.
bulletPhotos of four Canadian symbols.
bulletA movie advertisement showing government regulations. Explain your findings.
bulletA cartoon depicting a politician. Identify the level of government and the person and event it depicts.
bulletAn advertisement for a government position.
bulletAn article explaining a recent government scandal.
bulletA letter to the editor of the media source concerning the government. Write a response to the letter you include making reference to bias and frames of reference.
bulletThe name and photo of the Minister of Finance, Minister of Education, and Minister of Health at the provincial level of government.
bulletThe name and photo of the Minister of Finance, Minister of Foreign Affairs at the federal level of government.
bulletThe names and photo's of two Canadian Senators. (not the hockey team thank you)
bulletAn article about  proposed legislation.
bulletA headline that connects the federal government with the business community.
