Course Description
This course introduces students to the concepts and methods of communications technology. Students develop communication ideas in five areas: graphic production, sound and video, computer animation, information displays, and photography. Focussing on fundamental concepts, students use computers, audio-video equipment, and other tools to acquire and demonstrate the knowledge and skills to create, capture, manipulate, edit, arrange, display, and present communication projects. Working through pre-production, production, and post-production processes, students create devices for effective communication with an intended audience.

Students are expected to:
Attend class regularly
Arrive on time with the appropriate materials, ready to work
Make their best effort on all assigned work
Behave in a courteous, considerate and respectful manner to other students and the teacher
Treat all school equipment with care; this includes bringing no food or drink into the computer lab. Any malicious damage to school equipment, will result in immediate removal from the classroom.
Tests
A student who is truant for a test will receive a mark of 0.
If a student is legitimately absent only on the day of a test, the student will normally write the test on the first day back.
If a student is absent for an extended period before a test, the student will be given a reasonable amount of time to catch up on missed material. Once caught up, the student will write a test at a time agreed upon with the teacher.
Missed Test Policy
It is your responsibility to arrange a time to write/perform the missed test.
If you have been away for an extended period of time, extra allowances may be made. This must be arranged the day you return. Again, it is your responsibility to make these arrangements.
Quizzes may only be written by students in attendance at the time of the quiz. They are an incentive for prompt arrival in class and for steady attendance. Missed quizzes will result in a mark of "zero".Assignments
If a student is absent only on the day an assignment is due, the student will normally hand in the assignment, without penalty, on the first day back.
If a student is absent for an extended period around an assignment, the student will be given a reasonable amount of time to catch up on missed material or work time. Once caught up, the student will hand in the assignment, without penalty, at a time agreed upon with the teacher.
Assignments which are not handed in by the time evaluated ones have been returned will not be accepted and will receive a zero, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
To receive credit, communications assignments must be worked on in class and MUST be saved in the student's own school computer account.
