POLICY ON ACADEMIC DISHONESTY


Rationale

Academic dishonesty is a serious offence that goes against Sir Winston Churchill's code of student behaviour and discipline. It breaks the student-teacher trust that is essential in this subject area.

Definition

Academic dishonesty involves handing in any work (assignment, test or exam) that was not done by the individual. It is taking written work or a file or files from another person with or without their knowledge, and handing it in as their own.

A person who gives their work (hard copy or file) to another so that they can take an assignment or test answer is as guilty of cheating as the person taking the work and will bear the same responsibility.

Consequences

Dishonesty on an assignment, test or exam will result in all parties involved receiving a mark of zero. As well, some or all of the following consequences may result:
