COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY -- SAFETY

Safety is an important consideration in Communications Technology, especially when participating in out-of-classroom projects. You must ensure the safety of yourself, other students, and the equipment you are using.

Safety Declaration -- I understand and will abide by the following rules:

  1. I will NOT jeopardize my safety or anyone else's safety to try to get that "amazing" shot.  I will not lean over railings, or stand in roadways, climb up ladders or trees, or engage in any other dangerous activities too numerous to mention.

  2. I will not leave school property.

  3. I will not go near the railroad tracks.

  4. I will not video tape in the two "academic hallways" in the school, and will not disturb classes in session.

  5. I will inform my teacher of where I am working and will not go far from that area without letting him/her know.  I understand that my teacher must be able to find me at any time.

  6. I will not enlist help from students in other classes.

  7. I will be sure all equipment is returned to the teacher after class.

  8. I will watch where I am going.  When moving while recording a scene, I will first take survey the area and look for tripping hazards.

  9. I will dress appropriately--flat, soft soled shoes are safest when recording video.

  10. When using cameras I will lock off at least two wheels on the tripods.  A student will stay with the camera at all times.

  11. Electrical safety--I will never pull out a piece of equipment by the cord; I will use the plug.  I will look for loose or frayed electrical connections and report them to my teacher; I will not undertake repairs on my own.

  12. I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE.

  13. I WILL USE COMMON SENSE AND KEEP SAFE.

  14. I understand that if I break any of the above rules I will lose the privilege of working out-of-classroom.
