Sir Winston Churchill Cooperative Education Department
Cooperative Education Portfolio Presentation

In Essence, the Portfolio presentation is a oral and visual summary of what the cooperative education student was involved in and what skills/abilities were acquired as a result of their time at their cooperative education placement. Presentation mediums vary for each student. Many students use a three panel presentation board plastered with large pictures, brochures, graphs, and primary documents, which help explain what activities they were involved in while at their placement. Some students use video tape footage, web sites, and overhead transparencies. In some semesters students who were apprentice chefs made pizzas for the cooperative education class or did a hair and cosmetic make over for volunteer students.
Specific presentation dates will vary also but normally the presentations will take place during the last reflective learning period in the last two - three days of the semester. Students in semester 1 cooperative education classes have the option ; with teacher approval, to present during the Grade Eight Open House.
Keep in mind that the Portfolio presentation must have a large visual and oral component. The evaluation rubric is provided below to  indicate how you can achieve 100% on this compulsory aspect of the cooperative education course. Written Presentation

Criteria

Preparation

It is obvious that the student did a great deal of work to prepare
Nothing read

More than an average amount of work was done to get ready. Very little read.

An average amount of work was done to prepare, some reading.

The presenter was not prepared. Far too much reading.

Organization

Well organized and ready to handle any eventuality.

Presentation is good but could be better with more attention to detail.

Presentation is fair, student was unfortunately sidetracked.

The presentation was lacking and poorly organized.

Voice

Excellent voice, good tone and modulation. Pace was excellent.

Most words were clearly spoken but some were hard to understand.

Little changes of pace with regard to voice modulation or speed.

Much of the presentation was lost die to inadequate communication skills.

Audience

Was totally involved ans asked many questions.

Was interested and seemed pleased with the presentation. Some questions were asked.

Liked the presentation by the some parts were lackluster.

Was not into the presentation and asked few questions.

Responses

Every question was answered with complete skill and each answer was germane to the work.

Questions were well handled but not all answers pertained to the work.

Answers were not good but too short to really add to the presentation.

Answers did not lead to more understanding of the topic. Too many yes or no answers.

Value

Viewer obtained a complete understanding of presenters co-op experience

Viewer learned valuable information relative to presenters co-op experience.

Viewer learned a basic, yet incomplete overview of presenters co-op experience.

Viewer was left with a lack of understanding of presenters co-op experience.

Visual Aid

Was simply the best.
Was polished and neat.
Obeyed art rules for balance, color, structure
.

Was good but not great
could have been little better.
Use of color and balance not quite up to par

Visual aid needs work.
Sloppy appearance in relation to the other.

Visual aid either missing of just not well done

Audio/Visual

Audio visual aid added measurably to my understanding of the material

The use of audio visual aid was good, yet somewhat disjointed

Audio visual aid was used but not really add to the presentation. A wider application would have helped.

Use of audio visual aid were lacking and would have added to the presentation.
