A real gem!  The plot concerns three sisters ranging in age from 14 to 18. Their mother has run off, and their father is dead.  They are on their own and living well below the poverty line when they arrive in Port Desire for their grandfather’s funeral, hoping for an inheritance.  The inheritance proves to be much less – and by the end, much more – than they hoped for.  GG award nominee; winner of Mr. Christie’s book award.  Looks a bit juvenile, but isn’t.  Highly recommended.
