CORE AND EXTENDED FRENCH ACTIVITIES
 

Extended French Fall Day

Grade 8 students from feeder schools visit SWC to share a day filled with activities such as pumpkin carving, cooperative games, crafts, skits, traditional dance, etc.


Observation days for feeder schools

Students tour the school in groups and are given the opportunity to see a few classes, eat in the cafeteria and ask question. At the end of the day, Guidance presents the intention sheet.


Presentation of Extended French Program to
Grade 6 Students at Oakridge, Queen Mary and Dalewood

A short presentation is given to potential Extended French students and their parents to emphasize that the program continues at SWC and further highlight the benefits of the program.

Public speaking contest

Students compete in the DSBN competition and the Lions Club contest.


Québec Skimmersion Trip

Grade 10 Extended French students are given the opportunity to experience the culture and history of Québec City and to speak French with the native speakers. They also ski twice at Monte-Ste Anne.


Mardi-Gras

Upon returning from Québec skimmersion, grade 10 students share their experiences through a DVD slide show presentation and a traditional dance and song. ALF members prepare and serve crêpes for the occasion.


Brock-Niagara French Contest

All grade 12 core and Extended French students are eligible to compete. This is the venue for the DSBN French scholarship award.

The Great Canadian Geography Challenge sponsored by the HSBC Bank Canada is held annually.  Grade 9 Extended French students have the opportunity to compete in French.  geochallenge.ca
