Overview

 

A Successful Leadership and Peer Support experience requires the committed involvement of each of the following participants. The L&PS program can be defined through the responsibilities assigned to each segment of the L&PS program. Before entering the program it is essential that each participant clearly understand and is fully committed the realization of stated objectives and attending to/surpassing their individual responsibilities.

 

 

 

 

 

Leadership and Peer Support Student Responsibilities

To have achieved a minimum 75% average in the academic subject area they are working in.
To have the signature permission of the Subject Teacher, Out Of Class Project Supervisor ( s) and the Leadership and Peer Support Teacher, prior to entry into the course.
To attend Leadership and Peer Support classes from 7:20 AM - 8:40 AM for the first two weeks and final three days of the semester and once monthly on scheduled days through the duration of the semester.
To meet with the subject teacher and Out Of Class Project Supervisors prior to/after school/class to plan and discuss classroom activities and performance goals.
To complete LPS assignments, Weekly Activity Reports, and the Short Term Project Proposal prior to assigned completion dates and have signature verification of hours and activities completed.
To accurately and thoroughly complete the weekly time sheet and have it signed by the subject teacher as well as handing it in on Tuesday morning of the next week.
To achieve or exceed the minimum 110 hours of verified significant involvement in the Leadership and Peer Support course.
To communicate needs and challenges and successes with the L&PS teacher, the subject teacher and the Short Term Out of Class Project Supervisors in a professional and prompt manner.

 

Leadership and Peer Support Subject Teacher Responsibilities

To identify acceptance of the Leadership and Peer Support (L&PS) student by providing signatures on all necessary forms, following a thorough review of the applicants academic standing and personal suitability. To provide clearly communicated, significant and appropriately challenging objectives for the L&PS student in order to develop their leadership and peer support skills.
To ensure that L&PS Weekly Activity Sheets are completed properly and handed in when due.
To complete and discuss formal weekly evaluations with the L&PS student.
To provide direction in terms of tutoring and instructional and motivational techniques to L&PS students.
To communicate any challenges with the L&PS student and L&PS teacher as soon as it is comfortably possible.
To assist the L&PS student with the preparation and delivery of classroom lessons. (One is mandatory)
To complete bi-semester evaluation forms.

 

 

 

 

Leadership and Peer Support Teacher Responsibilities

To ensure that L&PS student applicants have completed the necessary requisite courses, have an acceptable grade average, timetable ability as well as subject teacher and Out of Class Project Supervisor’s approval to enter the L&PS program for the current semester.
To evaluate the Weekly Time Sheets, and written assignments of L&PS students.
To attend and evaluate a classroom lesson that has been planned and delivered by the L&PS student.
To provide career counselling.
To submit mid-term and final marks to the office.
 

 

Leadership and Peer Support Short Term Project Supervisor Responsibilities

To identify acceptance of the Leadership and Peer Support (L&PS) student by providing signatures on all necessary forms, following a thorough review of the applicants personal suitability.
To provide clearly communicated, significant and appropriately challenging objectives for the L&PS student in order to develop their leadership and peer support skills while completing their Out Of Class Project.
To ensure that L&PS Weekly Activity Sheets are completed properly and handed in when due.
To complete and discuss formal weekly evaluations with the L&PS student.
To provide direction in terms of leadership and self management techniques to L&PS students.
To communicate any challenges with the L&PS student and L&PS teacher as soon as it is comfortably possible.
To assist the L&PS student with the preparation and execution of the Out Of Class Project.
To provide a formal evaluation for the Out Of Class Project.
