OUR LIBRARY

We have an Open Concept Library and Computer lab located on the second floor of the school. We have approximately 4500 books in our collection.
Resources are available to meet curriculum needs.

Our library is intended to provide a space for students and staff to read, study, or do research without distractions. Please refrain from bringing food and/or drinks into the library. The rationale for this policy is to:

  • -Aid in the preservation and care of library materials and electronic equipment.
  • -Maintain a pest-free library.
  • -Reduce damage to furnishings and carpets.
  • -Reduce litter.
  • -Ensure a clean environment for studying and working.

CIRCULATION

The library is open to students throughout the day and before school from 8:15 to 8:45 beginning in October. An automated circulation system is used in our library. The Teacher Librarian or library assistants, will be happy to check out books and assist with search capacities. Student loan periods will be one school cycle or 10 school days.

Overdue notices will be generated and distributed to classroom teachers, who are asked, in turn, to distribute to relevant students. Students with overdue books will not be allowed to sign out new material until the books are returned.

If a book is lost or damaged a notice will go home. A payment or replacement with a new book will be required before the student will be allowed to sign out any further material.

***Follett's OPAC is a search engine. Students are trained to access information through a subject, title or author search. There is a computer in the library specifically reserved for that purpose. OPAC searches are also available on the network, and in classrooms. Students are encouraged to check for availability of resources from their classrooms.
