Tremendous Achievements and aspirations at South Lincoln

Principal's Message

Welcome to South Lincoln High School. This promises to be an exciting year filled with learning, activities and adventure. We are a community school that takes pride in its tradition of excellence across all areas including academics, athletics and the arts.

Here is a glimpse of some exciting additions to our school program:

  • Five new smart boards installed in a variety of areas including our computer lab, library and a number of classrooms

  • Wireless capabilities in our school

  • A new Specialist High Skills Major program in construction

  • A Specialist High Skills Major program in manufacturing (renewed)

  • A new school-wide Environmental Initiative

  • The introduction of the SLHS Bears Junior Mentoring program

Academically, we offer a complete range of courses at both the Academic and Applied levels in Grades 9 and 10, and at the University, College and "mixed" University/College levels for the Grade 11 and 12 students. We are also proud to be the "lead school" in the Specialist High Skills Major - Manufacturing sector for students planning to pursue a career in manufacturing at any of the post-secondary levels: apprenticeship, college, university or workplace. This year, we are adding a SHSM in the area of construction. To read more about the SHSM program, click on the Technology link at the top of our Home Page.

South Lincoln’s small school environment allows us the opportunity to provide our students with more individualized, one-on-one attention yet still maintain a full range of activities for everyone. We are a school filled with incredible talent, endless energy and a group of staff and students who continually strive to make South Lincoln the best high school in the District School Board of Niagara. Our caring and committed staff works tirelessly to ensure our students enjoy a very positive secondary school experience. From academics in the classroom to extra-curriculars after school, the halls of South Lincoln are never idle. The result is an atmosphere in which students are fully engaged and feel supported in their learning.

As you browse through our website, you will get a look at our achievements over the past and current school years. Our Grade 9 EQAO results for the 2007-2008 year continue to shine in Math. For the second consecutive year, South Lincoln students ranked FIRST in the District School Board of Niagara in the area of Applied Math with 74% of our students achieving Level 3 or 4; in Academic Math, 64% of our students achieved Level 3 or 4 placing us 9th in the DSBN. Our OSSLT Literacy results for the 2008-2009 year are impressive.  We ranked second in the DSBN for first-time writers (93%). Both of these achievements rank above the DSBN and Provincial averages of 83% and 85% respectively.

I invite you to browse our web site or walk through the doors of our school at any time.  Take some time to read or witness all of the great things happening at South Lincoln.  We are truly a school that is the heart of its community.
