ANNOUNCEMENTS


FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6th, 2009


 

1.          Interested in going to the Ontario Science Centre to see the Body Worlds Exhibit? SLHS will be traveling to Toronto on Friday November 27th to see the world famous Body Worlds Exhibit and Imax film for only $40 a student. Limited seats available and it is first come first served so please see Mrs. Boles or Mrs. Hutchinson for a permission form.

 

2.          There are still a large number of varsity athletes who have not paid their varsity athletic fee. Please bring your $50.00 to your coach or Mr. Wilkes.

 

3.           Bearwear Order forms are now available in the main office. Bearwear orders are due back by November 18th and can be returned to Mrs. Lavell in the office.

 

4.          Ms. Short is taking her grade 10 drama students to Tarragon Theatre in Toronto to see ROCKING THE CRADLE, a play touring here from Newfoundland. She is opening up the trip to students who don’t have drama this semester, but would be interested in attending. The trip will include the play and some shopping at the Eaton Centre afterwards. The trip is on NOV. 25 and tickets are $25. Please pick up a permission form in the main office if you are interested. MONEY AND FORMS MUST BE BACK TO MS. SHORT BY NOV. 11.

 

5.          On November 13th, 16th and 17th grad photos will be taken in the library seminar room. Please arrange your sitting in the Guidance office as soon as possible and take an appointment notice. It is your responsibility to arrive at your appointment on time. You will not be called down. This is the photo of you that will appear in the yearbook and on the composite photo. Girls should wear a white blouse and guys should wear a white shirt that can be buttoned at the top and a dark tie. Please read your appointment notice for important information regarding your grad sitting. There is a $25.00 composite fee payable at the camera at your sitting time. You are under no obligation to order a package. Your graduation portrait .... you’ve earned it!

 

6.          For the first time ever South Lincoln will be hosting a DSBN Chess Tournament on Friday, November 20th. If you are interested in playing, see Mr. Hruska before Friday, November 13th.

 

7.          Senior girls volleyball - sign up on the athletic bulletin board.

 

8.          From the Eco Club - for the month of October, the challenge was lights. Currently in the lead is Madame with 6 points, closely followed by Mr. Predovich with 5 ½ points. Mr. Gocking and Mrs. Putzman are tied with 4 points. Next week, we will be starting a NEW challenge - Handouts! Who can have the least amount of handouts? Is it double sided? Have you squeezed as much onto the page as possible? Are you ready?

9.If you want to help with this year's Christmas parade, sign up in the library. The SLHS Float will be carrying the characters from the Island of Misfits - think Ruldolph, the Red Nose Reindeer and Yukon Cornelius. The parade is on Saturday, November 28th. You also earn volunteer hours!

10.        There will be a Yearbook meeting on Monday. All photographers must attend this meeting. Designers - your pages are due in five weeks.

 

11.        Grad quotes are due at the time of your grad picture sitting.

 

12.         Anime Club Executive (Chairs, secretaries & vice-chairs) you have a meeting today at lunch in the library.

 

13.        The Senior Girls Basketball Team needs your help.  We have our first playoff game against Heritage.  The last time we met Heritage in the Playoffs, they filled their gym, a band and all.  We need FANS!!!!!   We can beat this team but we need some Bear Support. Stay tuned for game details.

 

14.        Mrs. Fisher is looking for anyone interested in getting some volunteer hours working at the Christmas Parade. There is a sign up sheet in the Main Office. Please sign up before Nov 12th. Parade date is November 28th.

 

15.        Football players must pick up their game pants at the beginning of lunch!

 

16.        All curling members - there is a quick, 5 minute mandatory meeting at the beginning of lunch in the main office.

 

17.        As Canadians we are very blessed to live in a free country, however many men and women have given their lives for us to do so. As Remembrance Day approaches, please take time to think of those who have given their lives for our freedom. As a show of respect and remembrance, we are asking all staff and students to show their support by wearing red and black on Remembrance Day, Wednesday, November 11th. Poppies are also available now in the office, please take your donation and pick up a poppy as soon as possible to show your support. We will remember them.

 

18.        SLHS wishes the Jr Girls Basketball team luck in their weekend tournament at the Hoop Dome in Toronto.
