ANNOUNCEMENTS


FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20th, 2009


 

1.          Potential graduates - Sheridan College will be doing a presentation at our school next Tuesday, November 24th during period 3 in room 10. Please sign up in the Guidance office if you plan to attend.

 

2.          Attention intra mural players - the sign up sheets for blind volleyball are now posted on the athletic bulletin board. Please read the rules and sign up your team using first and last names.

 

3.          Can you sing, dance, juggle, play an instrument, act? Come out and show us your stuff at the Cabaret. Auditions will be held today at lunch in the drama room. Sign up outside the room for your chance to audition!

 

4.          Senior Boys Basketball tryouts will commence today at 4:00 p.m. Be there or be square!

 

5.          Any grade nine or ten boy wishing to play basketball for the Junior Bears' Varsity Basketball Team must attend a try out today at 2:30 in the gym.

 

6.          I'd like to introduce you to Cameron Richards- an adorable 2 year old who is battling cancer. Cammie has been in the hospital since May and just begun a second round of chemo on Monday. When she was diagnosed with cancer, the doctors said she had a 40 % chance of being cured. That prognosis hasn't changed but she is still fighting! A card campaign has started and I'm hoping SLHS can meet the challenge! Let's put a smile on her face during these difficult days of treatment and send her some notes or handmade cards. See the poster on the door of Room 9 for more information.

 

7.          There will be a fundraising bake sale for the Anime Club at lunch today outside the Library.

 

8.          Do you ever wish that you could just wake up and go to school without getting ready? Well, next Wednesday your dreams will come true. It’s pajama day! Bring your teddy bears, blankies, slippers and wear your favourite pjs. The purpose of pajama day is not to sleep but to make it the most comfortable day of your life. Birthday suits are not permitted on pajama day.

 

9.          There will be a curling practice on Tuesday November 24th at the Grimsby Curling Club from 3-5 pm. Meet outside the office at 2:30. If you are unable to attend, please let one of the coaches know. Would Stacey Trifunovic, Sydney Futacs, Alannah Lymburner and Kate Vindis please come down to the office after announcements.

 

10.        Yearbook staff - listen up - You have a mandatory meeting on Monday. We are changing the entire yearbook - so your pages are moving. This includes all photographers.

 

11.        The library will be closed for MSIP travel today due to the chess tournament.

 

12.        The South Lincoln Jr Girls basketball team made us proud yesterday as they played their hearts out battling Eden for the Zone Championship. Although coming up 8 points shy, the girls showed their talent and determination keeping close throughout the game. Top scorers were Kaitlynn Ruber with 12 points and Natalie Fisher with 25 points. Great job ladies, you had an amazing season and we are all very proud of you.
