Governor Simcoe's 'Simbotics' Team 1114 is well into its fifth year of involvement in the FIRST program. Simbot 'Prime' has been shipped and will be waiting for us to compete in three regional events in 2006/07.
Last year, Team 1114 had its most successful season in FIRST history, obtaining Regional wins in Michigan, Waterloo, and Toronto, a Regional Chairman's Award in Waterloo, and placing 5th in the world at the Championship Event. And that's only FIRST Robotics! Team 1114 was also honoured to be the first Canadian FIRST Vex team, obtained a Regional win in Delaware, and captured a World Championship Title. Previous awards include Regional Titles in Long Island and Toronto, specialization awards for our robots, many off-season awards, and a Woodie Flowers Award honouring one of our mentors.
Not only has Team 1114 been successful on the field, but off the field as well. Students from Simbotics have been using the opportunity of having a large group and working to help out our community as well. We've been running a food drive for Community Care since the beginning of December, along with helping out a single parent family through our city's Women's Shelter. Team 1114's mission is to 'spread the word of FIRST, one patch at a time' and with this, we hope to not only inspire others, but help out those who need it most.
Team 1114 will be sure to make the DSBN proud in all events, hoping to have another very successful season. Good luck to both Spartonics and FESStronics as well! See you all on the field.
