The Guidance Department offers key courses in Career Studies and Leadership.
Preparing for your Future

Career Studies (GLC2OH) teaches students how to develop and achieve personal goals in education and work. It also helps students to recognize the importance of contributing to their communities. Students assess their own knowledge, skills and characteristics through a variety of self-tests. They have many opportunities to investigate economic trends, workplace organization, work opportunities and ways to search for work. The course explores in detail post-secondary learning options, prepares students for community-based learning, and helps them to build skills for managing work and life transitions.

Leadership and Peer Support (GPP 3O1) prepares and motivates students to provide leadership and assistance to others in their schools and communities. Students will develop skills in communication, interpersonal relations, coaching, leadership, teamwork and conflict management. Students have the chance to apply these skills in roles such as tutoring, mentoring and school involvement. Students will learn the value and complexity of social diversity while acquiring an appreciation of the importance of contributing to their communities and helping others throughout their lives.
