Senior 2007-2008 Results

April 11 Eden at St Andrews

Congratulations to the Senior boys on great start to the 2008 campaign. On Friday, we layed a thumping on St. Andrews in Aurora by a score of 22-0 to start the season. Our Try scorers were Andy Orban, Raf Aparacio, Thomas Baker and Jason Haynes.

April 12-13 Eden at Ridley Tournament (4 games)

On the weekend your flyers started with a 22-0 whipping of Ridley A team and a 40-0 drubbing of Rosseau Lake on Saturday at the Ridley Friendly Tournament. Lastly, yesterday we throttled the Ridley B team 27-0 and manhandled Westlane by a score of 40-0 to end a fine weekend of rugby. Too many trys and try scorers to keep count.

April 18 Eden at Saltfleet Tournament (3 games)

On Friday your flyers with only 19 players attended the Saltfleet Tournament in Stoney Creek. We finished the day going 1-2 against some of the top quad and triple A teams in the province. We lost our first game against St. Johns from Brantford 12-0 and won our second match 17-0 against Abbey Park from Oakville and then we lost our final match 5-0 in the consolation final to Sir John A Mcdonald out of Hamilton.

April 21 Eden at Beamsville

Congratulations to the members of the senior team on their 60-0 victory yesterday afternoon against Beamsville. Too many trys and too many try scorers to keep track.

April 22 Oakville Trafalgar at Eden

Congratulations to the members of the senior team on a hard fought 10-10 draw against Oakville Trafalgar yesterday afternoon. Our try scorers were Jeff Dancy and Jason Haynes.

April 25/26 Eden at Trenton/Ashbury/Rockland

Congratulations to the members of the roadtrip team on a solid weekend of rugby. On Friday we defeated a strong hard tackling team from Trenton High School in Trenton by a score of 17-13. After a restful sleep on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in a 4 star motel near Prescott your rugby heroes travelled to Ottawa and defeated Ashbury College 35-5 and then defeated Rockland High School 7-0 in back to back action Saturday morning.

April 29 Robert Land at Eden

Congratulations to the members of the senior team on their convincing 64-0 victory over Robert Land Academy yesterday afternoon in regular season play. Vince Fazzari and a ton of other guys scored trys.

May 2 Eden at Saltfleet

Congratulations to the members of the senior team on a strong showing on Friday afternoon at Saltfleet despite being short staffed. We went to half time tied at 5's and despite a valiant effort we ended up losing 15-5 to the 5th ranked team in the province.

May 7 Holy Cross at Eden

Congratulations to the members of the Senior team on their 34-8 victory over Holy Cross yesterday afternoon here at home. Barossa Lum and Jason Haynes led the way with a pair of trys each. Singles went to Raf and Andy Orban to round out the scoring.

May 8 Eden at Rehhot Tournament in Waterloo

Congratulations to the members of the senior team on a very successful day at the redhot tournament in Waterloo. We went 2-1 on the day losing our only game 15-7 to Uxbridge in an excellent game in which we held the lead until the very end of the game. We defeated Grand River from Kitchener 5-0 and Birchmount from Toronto 22-0 in our other 2 games

May 14 Holy Cross at Eden Zone 4 Final

Congratulations to the senior boys on their zone 4 victory yesterday over Holy Cross by a score of 10-3 advancing us to Sossa. Your try scorers were Pat Kramer and Andy Orban.

May 21 SOSSA

Congratulations to the senior boys on their SOSSA victory yesterday over a very strong Holy Cross team by a score of 8-5 in Penalty Kicks in our first game of the day. WHEW! Your try scorer was Pat Kramer and Mitchel Sawatsky led us to victory in penalty kicks. In the final we rose to the occasion and beat Westlane by a score of 26-5 to advance to OFSAA for the 4th year in a row. Your try scorers were Jason Haynes, Mitchel Sawatsky, Steve Stone and Pat Kremer.

May 23 (Tournament at Park Street in Orillia)

Congratulations to the members of the senior team and 6 juniors that travelled to Orillia on Friday. We won 3 games and tied 1 in a fine day of rugby. We beat Park 7-0, Patrick Fogarty 30-0, Morris (from South Carolina) 30-0 and tied Joan of Arc from Barrie 0-0 after failing to score while having them under pressure the whole 20 minutes.

June 4-6 (OFSAA in Sarnia)

Last week the senior boys rugby team travelled to Sarnia to play at OFSAA for the double A title. On the first day the guys played Milton and beat them 22-7. The tri scorers were Steven Stone, Josh Neal, and Jason Haynes with two, and Mitchell Sawatsky with one convert. Second day the boys played Barcebridge, a win would lock a spot for a chance at a medal. Right off the kick off Thomas Baker got the ball and ran the whole field setting up Vince Fazzari for a try. The final score was 24-12. Try scorers were, Vince Fazzari, Steven Stone, Jason Haynes and Josh Neal, with Mitchell Sawatsky scoring two converts. The lads then played number 2 seed Adam Scott, 3 in Ontario., to decide if we would go on to play for gold or bronze. The guys played tough but lost our first game of the season against a AA school by a score of 26-0. The final day the guys played Trenton for the bronze medal. It was a great display of rugby, the best match of the tournament for the lads. In the end, they lost 5-0 leaving the team 4th in the province in double A. Great work guys!
