Welcome to McKay Public School!

Our 2008-2009 school year is nearly complete. We have certainly accomplished a great deal during the past 10 months.

Your children have made steady progress and have acquired new skills that will prepare them for their journey into the next grade in September. Our entire staff has also learned new skills throughout the year, participating in Professional Learning Communities, attending workshops, conferences and by sharing best practices with colleagues.

All staff have now been trained in Tribes and have been implementing the Tribes process in their classrooms to build a community of caring and cooperative individuals. The “Tribes” process is based on four agreements that can also be carried over to home use.

The Agreements are: (1) Appreciation - No put downs (2) Mutual respect (3) Attentive listening and (4) Right to pass.

Our goal for September, 2009 is to have everyone respecting these agreements and further implement Tribes into our daily learning.

Please be sure to keep the June calendar handy as there are many important events happening throughout the month. Also, please be sure your child has brought back permission forms, money and is ready to participate.

We are looking forward to an exciting end of our successful 2008-2009 school year.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere “thanks” for making me feel so welcome at McKay School and for your on-going support that has meant so much to all of us!

Sincerely,
Mrs. R. Grenier,
Principal.
