Outline

The Physics Enrichment Program ( PEP) will  involve elements of problem-solving, experimental inquiry, critical thinking, and some advanced topics with the focus on mastery.
Grade 11 and Grade 12 student candidates for this program must select the cooperative education option on their Sir Winston Churchill intention sheets.
Successful candidates will be involved in the Physics Enrichment Program from 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Monday through Friday and will able to return daily to their academic classes periods 2, 3, and 4 at  Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School.
Each student will initially meet with Mr. Hinton in the Cooperative Education office prior to an  interview session  with Dr. Sternin at Brock University.

The purpose of the initial meeting is:

  • To determine background knowledge, skill sets, and future goals.

  • For orientation and for preparation for the interview session with Dr. Sternin.

  • Student Requirements

    During the semester within which the Physics Enrichment Program occurs, each student is expected to:

  • Carry out their investigations and data analysis.
  • Complete a Scientific Journal detailing; their use of the scientific method to solve a problem, and the results.
  • Complete Weekly Activity Reports and cooperative education assignments.
  • Complete a written report and present the project at the end of the semester.
